Colorful & Conscious!

One day while browsing one of our favorite interior stores, we spotted these bright & catchy ceramic lamps that were begging to be included in a room for a hip youngster. Later, when in front of a computer, we looked up information on the manufacturer we have long admired but never fully researched. Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams are not only interested in improving your home life by surrounding you with beautiful furnishings; they are carrying out programs to improve the life of their employees and their families. Their impressive production facility in the U.S. features a health-conscious café, employee gym, and its own on-site "education based" daycare center for its over 700+ employees (the first one of its kind in the residential furniture industry). "Kid-friendly" design has a whole new meaning thanks to this wonderful company!

Charley the Children's fave...

Books are a great and educational gift for a child, so why not give them a book they can flip through as a baby and display on their coffee table as a young adult. A friend of bundle reminded us of a great American Modern artist with tons of tot appeal. Charley Harper's illustrations have homespun and natural themes that are paired with vivid colors perfect for captivating little ones. Harper has illustrated many books and contributed to ad campaigns for state zoos and the Everglades National Park. Remember his work the next time you are sending a gift!

Well Traveled...

We're back from a beautiful holiday and can't wait to share some of the unique influences we picked up along the way! Fresh from experiencing new people and far away places, we were thrilled to be greeted with a lovely announcement from ducduc, a children's furniture manufacturer that we have admired for many years. Their newest collection, MasonGray, was created with a philosophy that mirrors our own and we thought a quote from their website explained this beautifully:

"...Routes may be different, traditions remain the same. Remembering favorite places, discovering new ones."

A visit to any Farrow & Ball store is awe-inspiring. Browsing their coordinated paints and wallpapers you will experience sophisticated hues and patterns that compliment the modern & the traditional. The techniques applied to their papers lend a handcrafted feel to the selection of pattern and stripes; all of which are block or trough printed using their signature water based and washable environmentally friendly paint - perfect for use around children or expectant parents. The various scales of each pattern offer a perfect solution to any project: large scales are great for a feature wall, small scales are great accents on furniture to back shelves or covering the interior of a re-purposed armoir. Home Fashions...

We are beginning our next custom design project and for inspiration we reached to our stack of glossies - fashion magazines & catalogs! Trends & palettes for interiors are almost always influenced by the fashion world. We've had our eye on the adorable designs JCrew is putting out for their crewcuts line for children. This picture got our creative juices flowing and will be a perfect starting point for a sophisticated little girl's nursery with fresh colors & exotic accents such as a peek of an animal skin and a graphic Moroccan print.

Backyard Beanbags...

Beanbag chairs have long been a favorite of children (& bachelors)! This simple seating has recently received a chic makeover by west elm; constructed with a durable, water-resistant poly shell it can now be used during fun days by the pool or anywhere in the great outdoors (which is always better than plopped in front of the TV).
