Busy busy busy...

Our apologies for the radio silence as we have been overwhelmed with work (a very good problem to have!); although we probably can't quite compare our busy schedule to the daily agenda at this full house. Take a look at this cleverly designed home to three boys and their creative parents in Seattle featured on Sunset.com; it oozes realized potential in a small space. There is definitely something to say about living "small" these days!

This is definitely not a hands-off/special occasion only dining room. Notice the brightly colored & well designed high chair pushed up to the table just like the rest of the chairs & the salvaged wood dining table (from an old bowling lane) & the former school house chalk board.

This is the first "one bathroom" house we wouldn't mind sharing with a bunch of kiddos. The splash of color is spot on: playful enough for children & sophisticated enough for adults and guests.

An area off the kitchen was transformed into a makeshift mud room with buckets, bins & bleachers?? Yes, that's right - the shelves & bench are salvaged bleacher rows.

This new brand was launched by two design-minded women "to fill a void in the category for high quality designer look and quality nursery and home décor without designer prices". They definitely succeeded as each piece is unique, playful but not too cute-sy and have a less shocking sticker price than similar style-setters. The Oscars are just around the corner and this week has launched some noteworthy new TV shows. We are falling hard for NBC's Parenthood; a stellar cast, relatable plot line & superb set design. The Berkeley based family is surrounded by the California Craftsman architecture and is shot with such attention to detail, we were in TV & Design Land heaven. This show is definitely worth Tivo-ing for some rewinding & pausing to take in great scenes.

We were again re-acquainted with the Frank Lloyd Wright movement when we spotted Kalon Studios new collection. Made in the USA, these pieces follow the definition of the Craftsman style: " incorporating clean lines, sturdy structure, natural materials, and always has an emphasis on the originality of the artist/craftsman". Find Kalon's timeless pieces in our store and enjoy this fun fact:

John Lloyd Wright, son of the famous architect invented Lincoln Logs in 1918! We so love to connect history (especially family history) to the interiors we work on, even in the tiniest details. Ahhh inspiration!

We are enjoying a touch of spring-like weather in NYC this week with sunny skies & milder temps. A perfect compliment to our mood is the recent trend resurgence of florals. Everyone is taking note of the rage which is back in full swing and popping up everwhere from fashion to home decor & art. As if right on cue we were introduced to the lovely, new collection of blocked-printed floral wallpapers by Farrow & Ball, the Chelsea Papers, which were inspired by 19th century, pure silk woven jacquard fabrics - absolutely enchanting! Even when planning a mod space, do not be aftraid to go extra frilly, feminine and flowery - it's not just for traditionalists anymore.
