Seasons change, Styles change...

It's hard to imagine during this very chilly time of year that warmth will soon be back with Spring! Just like the Seasons, styles have a way of revisiting us in new & refreshed forms. We've whole-heartedly welcomed back wallpaper and all of it's innovative and funky reincarnations. While buried in a pile of presents needing wrapping we realized just like wallpaper swathes a room in a certain tone, gift wrap does the same depending on the color, style and texture of a pattern.

As we all prepare for a festive holiday season with our loved ones, we'd like to share this hip headboard made using wallpaper! Spotted on Ohdeedoh.com, this project can easily be changed with your mood or the season. Recently, we were ecstatic to uncover stacks & stacks of vintage hand printed wallpapers in one of our favorite home design stores. Check back with us in the New Year to see what we snagged and the adorable bundle we built around the beautifully crafted print.

Merry, Merry, Happy Happy from bundle design co.

bundle " Gives a Hoot"...

We are so excited for the debut of our first bundle that is up for sale starting TODAY!

Our mission is to create coordinated product groupings for those who want to “nest” on their own but want an original, creative & inspired plan from a design consultant for their nursery, children’s room or family multi-purpose room. Our “bundles” consist of collected accessories that work brilliantly next to any crib, changer, sofa or furniture piece you already own and
never appear matchy-matchy or straight from the box. We believe in each of the products in
this well edited grouping; most items are eco-friendly, promote creative play and are perfectly
suited to grow with your child - whether a boy or a girl!

"Gives a Hoot" is a perfect name for this bundle as it's environmentally responsible and a portion of the net profits will be donated to a very worthy organization - Room to Grow. Read more below about Room to Grow's mission below and see details on everything you get when you purchase this charming assortment.

The mission of Room to Grow is to enrich the lives of babies born in to poverty throughout their critical first three years of development. Room to Grow's program provides parents raising babies in poverty with one-on-one parenting support and essential baby items throughout their children's critical first three years of life. Parents expecting a baby are referred to Room to Grow by selected prenatal programs assisting low-income families. Upon their referral, parents visit Room to Grow’s warm and inviting space once every three months from just before the birth of the baby until their child turns three. During their one-on-one appointments with staff social workers, typically lasting two hours, parents receive developmental information, customized support, and all of the needed baby items to ensure a healthy and secure start for their child.

Besides the good karma you will receive for supporting one of bundle design co.’s favorite Charities, you are also receiving all of the amazing and unique items below:

Please email us if you are interested in purchasing.

A good read...

Our favorite style mavens, Serena & Lily, have done it again; this time creating a beautiful book that educates children on how to start their own revolution. Packed with stamps, stickers & fun forms, the World Repair Kit is an interactive and creative guide for children that presents facts on the environment and worldly issues next to fundraising ideas and reference lists introducing your special little one to amazing non-profit organizations. Book 'em...

Children's books have been getting lots of street cred lately with the big screen adaptations of favorites like: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Where the Wild Things Are, Polar Express and the soon to be released Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. With holidays quickly approaching we wanted to remind everyone of the joys of giving and receiving books. Artistic, educational and most times hysterical; books are a timeless gift that that can be made extra special with a lovely inscription - almost making a time stamp on the keepsake. Click here for our extra special book selections that everyone big or small should have in their library.

New to our list of favorites are the recently revealed New York Times picks for the "Best Illustrated Children's Books of 2009" (including a beautifully structured pop-up book - LOVE pop-ups!). Be sure to check them out.

Project a Positive Image...

In this month's Martha Stewart Living, a basement renovation project inspired us to take a closer look at projectors. This piece of equipment is compact enough to use in various areas of the home (as well as outdoors for movie night under the stars!) and easily connects to a cable box or your computer. Imagine the possibilities of incorporating this fun gadget into your child's next school project or simply projecting a fun picture or message during a family gathering. Our wheels are spinning with ideas... Thanks, Martha!

Empty Nesters...

Did you see the most recent New York Times Style Magazine? It's theme, "Just My Size - Design that Bridges the Generation Gap" was a nod to high-end, mostly modern design relating to children. One of the most interesting articles was called "Empty Nest Syndrome" about kids growing up in uber-minimalist designed homes - uber to the extent that one teen was only allowed to have a pencil holder and tissue box on her desk. Very little of the kids interviewed objected to this way of living; one quoted as saying, "No other house anywhere had 100 feet of pure sock-sliding potential," and another agreeing that "... the longer you stare at the white walls, the more worlds and ideas are revealed."

Whether we agree or not, it's an interesting concept that these stark environments actually stimulate imaginations, creativity during play and spur self-expression in other areas such as dress.

Mash up...

Two names associated with uber high-end home decor have teamed up to bring good design to the masses! Istdibs.com and Architectural Digest have partnered to create ShopAD, an online catalog of some of the most recognizable names in Furniture, Lighting, Textiles, Wallcoverings and much more. Finally we get a peek inside the usually "closed to the public" doors of Design Centers around the country, and we have definitely been missing out!

The textile section is definitely worth a browse, with easy to navigate categories such as Ethnic/Ikats, Green/Sustainable, Textures, Prints and our personal fav...Juvenile (a very impressive collection we might add!). Be sure to check out their growing assortment online.

Birds of a feather flock together...

We are ecstatic about some of the latest entries to the Small Kids, Big Color contest on Ohdeedoh... one of our very favorite places to scroll through each morning with our cup of coffee. This room for a baby on the way in California has a homespun feel but remains uncluttered & cheerful. Our favorite element is the natural branch mounted on the wall holding fabric birds.

This reminded us of an art installation we spotted at the Crow Collection of Asian Art in Dallas which had origami cranes hanging from every inch of a hallway ceiling with fishing line. We immediately envisioned something similar for a children's room or nursery and later thought it would be a nice jesture to have friends help fold the decorative paper birds during pre-baby festivites such as a shower. Pre-cut sqares of paper with fun motifs can be used to decorate place settings, then guests can scribble special wishes to the little one on one side before folding; making a cherished statement piece made entirely by your closest friends & family.

Creater's Comforts...

We are in complete & total envy of this big kids craft space seen on Cottage Living's website. A small area of an adult office is transformed into an inspiring area to cut, paste & create to heart's content. Inexpensive shelving with bins of paint, ribbon, fabrics and wrapping paper sit next to found objects like clothes tags, photos and magazine tears - all ready and waiting to become part of a masterpiece. A great idea to encourage artistic play!

Root for the HOME team...

Hive Modern is a great source for one of our biggest design obsessions - CHAIRS! Many varieties for children are amoung their well-edited mix including the Joe Lounge Chair. Made in the USA this is a re-issue by Heller, inspired by the 1970s original made completely of leather. Now made from roto-molded plastic this signature piece can be used indoors as well as outdoors; perfect for a bedroom, playroom or backyard space (imagine this as on-deck seating next to your very own baseball diamond!). Yes, a bit pricey at $1,000 but shipping is free which makes us even bigger fans!

ducduc, goose...

A few weeks ago we participated in the ASID sponsored Soho Design Walk in New York visiting some spectacular showrooms that opened their doors on a very dreary October day. We were immediately energized as we walked into the cheery ducduc showroom full of happy, bright colors - ranging from the classics to funky with an edge. There is a full range of custom finishes for each piece that are strikingly inventive and we could hardly contain our excitement over their sophisticated, homespun Mason Gray collection. The beauty is truly in the detailing and our admiration peaked as we caught a glimpse of designers busily creating in the next room, learned everything is created in a small town in nearby CT, and settled into a comfy rocker with a sweet treat from Balthazar bakery.

Thank you, ducduc for being a wonderful host!

Happy Birthday, Barbie...

Barbie sure looks good for 50 and so do the special edition accessories designed especially for the bombshell's birthday. Golden Globes...

The nip in the air is reminding us that Halloween is only a few short weeks away! Preparing for this very festive occasion sometimes leads to hours of sticky, fuzzy, gooey and complicated projects (i.e. costumes and sticky treats). If this is the case, may we suggest an alternative to carving a pumpkin... paint it gold! We spotted this style at John Derian's flagship store in Manhattan and loved the sophisticated fall feeling it left with us. Your pumpkin will last longer when left uncarved and you can feel especially charitable by giving a bruised or dis-colored pumpkin a red-carpet makeover. Happy Fall!

The Cookie Crumbles...

We are devastated with the news that Cookie Magazine will be closing. We always looked to their ingenious editorials and stylings for inspiration and resources. Take some time to view their website before it's too late and enjoy one of the many articles we are clinging to as a keepsake.

Make your child's birthday a hit... throw a rock star party!

Smaller but Smarter...

These days everyone is trying to squeeze more out of less. Home building trends are more focused on maximizing the potential of smaller spaces to reduce the use of energy, materials and of course save a few pennies. Attic space can be valuable real estate so when expanding into this usually wasted space consider the design below we found on Coastal Living's website. The space below a severly pitched roof is transformed into a fun sleeping nook complete with peek-a-boo portholes and priceless under bed storage making there no need for multiple dressers. A cozy concept to welcome the first days of fall. Enjoy!

An Artist's Palette...

Better Homes & Gardens has wonderful online photo galleries we click through daily to our hearts content. This image of a great contemporary kitchen was just waiting to be uncovered and has a stylish palette that could truly be the start to our next big project (which we should be able to announce in the next 3 months! - exciting!).

The typical contemporary black & white is warmed up with the addition of a periwinkle blue/olive pattern next to accents of gray and light wood tones and is a great palette for a unisex room. The cherry on top isn't cherry at all - it's orange! The energizing pop of orange on the stand mixer gives us the perfect opportunity to introduce some must-have orange accessories by a company we've been admiring lately. Pkolino designs children's products with top of the line functionality supporting a child's natural development while maintaining interesting and engaging style that kid's reach for as well as design-conscious parents. Enjoy their handy work below!
